Oral Hygiene Instruction – How it Affects the Caries Experience, Oral Hygiene Status, and sCD14 Levels?

Background: Caries experience, oral hygiene status, and salivary sCD14 level are three essential factors to analyse individual dental caries development risk. Therefore, regular effective instruction (OHI) is for prevention. Objective: This study aims the differences in levels before after OHI. Methods: An observational with intervention was conducted on 40 samples of each group taken an accidental sampling method. The sample calculated using size formula determine difference between two paired means; confidence 95%; power test 90%. OHI materials include microbial aspects, plaque control methods instruments, directives visiting dentist. Caries' experience obtained DMF-T index; status simplified (OHI-S); from unstimulated saliva ELISA kit. Data analysis used Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test, t-test, Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results: Kolmogorov showed that data were normally distributed, while not. paired-t result cannot be determined because a similar value. no significant difference, difference.
